Preliminary Assessment - Cryptocurrency Fraud
Preliminary Assessment - Cryptocurrency Fraud
At the outset of a cryptocurrency fraud investigation, we conduct a preliminary assessment to evaluate what information is readily available about the responsible party (“Subject”) through our blockchain intelligence system, and whether the Subject’s identity and activities can potentially be tracked with investigative resources.
The preliminary assessment will focus on the Bitcoin address where you transferred your funds. If there were multiple addresses, we will focus on the one that received the largest amount.
The assessment consists of preliminary cryptocurrency tracing and due diligence in the following areas, to the extent this information is readily available through our blockchain intelligence tools:
Attribution Data
Current Value
Total Transactions
IP Address
Cluster Analysis
Wallet Score
Visual Mapping
Subpoena Targets
Visual mapping of transfer activity in this preliminary assessment is limited to 10 transactions. Identification of potential subpoena targets (such as Coinbase or other exchanges) is limited to these initial 10 transactions.
The assessment will be led by a Cryptocurrency Tracing Certified Examiner (CTCE). Our investigative suite of blockchain intelligence tools includes a commercial intelligence system developed with funding from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Further information on attribution data and other terms listed above is available on our website.
The cost of the preliminary assessment is $500. The work will take up to five business days. A formal report will be provided upon completion.
Preliminary tracing serves as an important step in preparing a plan and budget estimate for a full investigation. A preliminary assessment will not be sufficient, on its own, to resolve matters of fraud or theft.
The preliminary assessment is conducted on a flat-fee basis. Upon completion of the assessment, any further investigation or consultation will be subject to our billing rate of $225 per hour.
Payment of the $500 fee will represent acceptance of this agreement.
By entering into this agreement, you affirm that the investigation will be conducted for lawful purposes in support of recovery of your own assets that have been lost and/or misappropriated through fraud, theft, extortion, cybercrime or related incident.
